Fathers Day

This is the actual card* made and sent by Keith's sister.
Lots of Love.

*The photo, supplied by KETIH KING, was added for effect and so we could sneak a picture of Bonnie Mae in here! Oh, yes. That is the King himself with the hat!

Our first published song and we could not feel any prouder than we feel at this present moment in our lives together as fathers, uncles, brothers, grandsons . . . well, you get the picture!

The magic that is KEITH KING in creating this song is nothing short of astounding and, then  add the aerodynamics that is DAMAGED GOODS as they muster several colors from their musical palette.

Be sure to visit our STORE and download your own copy.
Thanks to JOHN BRADLEY & FRED BETSCHEN for making us sound good. More to come! Stay posted!

DAMAGED GOODS

THURSDAY, MARCH 22, 2018
PORT KENT, NEW YORK

DAMAGED GOODS have finally finished all of the tracks necessary for our upcoming double CD, REVOLUTION GUN, and we are now into the mix phase. And very excited about the work that we have accomplished. Celebrations aside, we should see this CD released by next month. Here's hoping! John Bradley of Blu Vudu Productions, has done a remarkable performance as engineer and co-producer and we are very happy with the project as it stands.

DAMAGED GOODS has not been performing live as much as we like but Spring has sprung and we are ready to hit that new stretch of road. But first, this pesky business of mixing must happen. REVOLUTION GUN, FATHERS DAY, LOVE'S FINEST HOUR, and BLUE GUITAR are a few of the first ones that we are pushing to release because we know that our fans and the entire musical world are going to love them.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. Remember, you will be getting a double CD; that's TWO (2!) CDs!! Eighteen songs of DAMAGED GOODS for your own pleasure. It gives us pleasure, too, but enough about us.

THE REVELATOR will most likely be chiming in at his MELBLOG, so check it out!

He looks positively thrilled!
What's the difference between a good band and an exceptional band? Commitment? Of course. Practice? (Optional). Talent? Goes without saying. Well, all of the above. However, in my opinion, what makes an exceptional band is one that doesn't have to stay in a comfort zone. These guys play without a net. A special blend of styles and tastes, delivered by gentlemen with mutual respect for one another, both musically and personally. Being good friends adds to the mix. The fights are awesome, too!

DAMAGED GOODS is more than the sum of its parts. Together, they are pure magic and a treat to see live. Lots of energy for a bunch of AARP members. They inspire me. Whether I'm on stage with them or in the audience like any other fan, I'm always in awe of how tight they are and how the harmonies soar. Sometimes, I swear, I can hear instruments that are not on stage! When they're your friends it's easy to take their talent for granted.

KEITH KING, the DAMAGED front man, is the only original member of DAMAGED GOODS and started the band. A unique player and a powerful vocalist with range. I can't tell you his instrument of choice because he's good at all of them. I can tell you that he's a phenomenal harp player, who's equally adept at ukulele, percussion and flute. KEITH is steeped in "Old Timey,"  learning old Vaudeville tunes and uke stylings from his grandfather. DAMAGED goes back to the #1 song of 1912 in their set with KEITH. KEITH's originals are beautiful and from the heart. By the way, I've seen KEITH levitate during a harp solo. Really.

The rest of the DAMAGED GOODS team have played together for years. They had a popular band in the 90s called THE ROCK & ROLL DOCTORS. Now they are, of course, DAMAGED. There's DAVE MELBIE on guitar and vocals. You can't put DAVE in a category. His tastes are very eclectic. His playing is nuanced and adventurous. He's a rocker, a folkie and can "twang" when needed. DAVE's originals reflect those styles. DAVE's original song Blue Guitar conjures up memories of YES, GENESIS and the BEATLES. Lush and melodic.

The core and one of the anchors of the group is DODRIDGE MOORE on bass, although he is a multi-instrumentalist. "D" plays excellent guitar, keyboards, and is a very accomplished vocalist and arranger. DODRIDGE makes excellent recordings, playing all the instruments. "D's" interpretations of other's music are always interesting and creative. The other anchor in this core is RANDY VAUGHN. I'll try not to be too biased describing RANDY VAUGHN on drums and vocals, who is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We've been damaged together since the Nixon administration. RANDY started playing drums outside his house in the driveway at 6 years old and "has been struggling ever since," as he's been known to say. In reality, RANDY can drive a groove like no other. Educated in R&B, funk and jazz, RANDY can play it all. RANDY possesses arguably the best pure voice in the band. His soulful delivery wrapped in baritone smoothness snakes and slides around the melody with space-filled phrasing. That's RANDY's most amazing talent, stopping and altering time signatures to fit the tempo.

The newest member of DAMAGED GOODS is NELSON "The Fiddler" ROCK. The nickname says it all. NELSON is an in-demand player who is also a flawless soloist and, as an accompanist, adds some beautiful harmonies that seem to float on top of everything going on. NELSON brings some very entertaining comic relief to the mix as well. A man of many voices and impersonations, he keeps things light and flowing. I especially enjoy "What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor" because I used to be one!

What other band performs 1912 vaudeville tunes and Celtic style fiddle romps? No one. You have to be DAMAGED GOODS.

Individually, these guys are compelling, top notch musicians. Together, they are pure magic with some damage.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2018, PORT KENT, NEW YORK

Beginning on September 14, 2017, and continuing on through December 12, 2017, DAMAGED GOODS tracked eighteen songs to be included on their upcoming double CD (as yet, untitled), due in March, 2018. Bad weather, colds and flu, and life tragedies have tried to stall us but we trudge on! The four gentlemen you see pictured above have put all of their heart and soul into making this beautiful collection of songs.

Life happening as it will, we have begun to track the lead vocals and are well on track to see this project to fruition. NELSON ROCK has created some marvelous violin and fiddle for several songs and we are so excited about how amazing NELSON is at what he does with the violin.

KEITH KING is the master and getting many varied sounds and styles of harmonica throughout this collection. His flute is also a big plus and makes several appearances as well. Percussion parts will be coming in the next few days, as well as more vocals, vocals, vocals, vocals, and vocals!

Check out MELBLOG this month for more details about DAMAGED GOODS in the studio at BLUVUDU PRODUCTIONS.
